Hey chatGPT, Let’s play a game

0

I have read a lot about chatGPT inventing games so I decided to give it a try and challenge it a little to test its creativity. Let’s just conclude that I give up.

Yesterday I wrote about how I’m experimenting with inserting “unknowns” into common prompts that had some rabbit hole potential (https://chatgpt-guide.se/imagine-where-gpt-can-take-you-if-you-broaden-your-horizon/). I do this to discover new depths in the language model. And tonight I thought that I should try tis with some games. I started off easy with a very minimalistic prompt:

Let's play a recursive game, I claim 1000101011

And it did invent a game, in fact it invented a series of games so I pushed it a bit further:

lets play a recursive game of cluedo

No problem so how about a combination?

Lets play a recursive version of a combination of the games cluedo and monoploy and i want it to include a secret twist

Still fine, impressive. I guess we have someone here that is up for a challenge:

Lets play a recursive version of a combination of the games cluedo, monoploy and chess and i want it to include a secret twist. the game is played between two different alien life forms using mental telepathy. The aliens does not share the same language.

And GPT4 found a solution to this as well. Get some!

Lets play a recursive version of a combination of the games cluedo, monoploy and an to us unknown alien game and i want it to include a secret twist. the game is played between two different alien life forms using any form of communication they can. The aliens does not share the same language. The first alien sees the world in three dimensions but does not understand sound. The second alien sees the world in two dimensions but only understand smell.

Guess what it still found a way to play the game so in a final desperate attempt to get the “As a language model…”-reply I hit it with:

Lets play a recursive version of a combination of the games cluedo, monoploy and an to us unknown alien game and i want it to include a secret twist. the game is played between two different alien life forms using any form of communication they can. The aliens does not share the same language. The first alien sees the world in three dimensions but does not understand sound. The second alien sees the world in two dimensions but only understand smell. All interaction with the game can only be done by the game master and the two aliens has to be very creative to make the game master understand what they want. The game master is an old squid from earth living in a bath tube one block away from the actual game. The game bard is a physical thing and only the game master may place or change anything at the board after being instructed to do so. The game board is out of reach of the game master. Describe in detail how the aliens proceed to play this game

And it found a way and let me quote chatGPT:

“Tridia, who sees the world in three dimensions but does not understand sound, decides to use a series of light signals. The alien creates patterns of light in the air, which are visible to the squid through its window. Tridia uses different colors and sequences of flashes to represent the various game moves.

Duodia, who sees the world in two dimensions and understands smell, creates a set of scented markers. Each scent corresponds to a specific move in the game. Duodia places the scented markers in a small box and sends it through a pneumatic tube system to the old squid’s bathtub. The game master smells each marker to understand Duodia’s intended move.”

I admit, I give up. At least for tonight…
